The Kittitas County Bar Association is offering a scholarship to a student who is a high school senior (or who has otherwise completed his or her high school diploma equivalencies), has completed a federal financial aid application (FAFSA), and has a cumulative GPA (or equivalent) of 3.0. The recipient may use the scholarship to fund his or her first year at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington if he or she will be pursuing a career in the broad field of law and justice (e.g., lawyer, paralegal, law enforcement officer, probation officer, corrections officer, court official).

To Apply:

1) Complete the application (available for pickup with your counselor). All application materials must be received by May 15, 2014.

2) Along with the application, submit a signed cover letter that includes:

  • An introductory paragraph introducing yourself to the selection committee
  • A paragraph describing your dreams, interests, and passions
  • A paragraph sharing your career and educational goals and why you plan to pursue a career in the field of law and justice
  • A concluding paragraph which explains how this scholarship can help you reach your goals

3) Submit two letters of recommendation from any of the people listed here who are not related to you: a school administrator, counselor, or teacher; adult friend or mentor; employer; church leader; youth group or community service organization leader (e.g., scouts or 4-H).

4) Submit a copy of  your most recent grade report.

5) Mail all of the above to: KCBA Scholarship Committee; c/o 421 N. Pearl, #208; Ellensburg, WA 98926

The Process:

  1. Applications will be screened by members of the KCBA Scholarship committee for selection by the KCBA executive committee.
    1. School counselor will be notified of the winning recipient to announce on  scholarship night, at graduation and in the media.
  2. Recipient must submit proof of registration at Central Washington University to the Committee at the above address before funds will be released.
